On this Labor Day, we thank our Creator for providing us with work, so that we can all earn a living. Many people think that work itself was a punishment imposed on Adam after the sin he and Eve committed at the Garden of Eden, but we should look at the opportunity to work as a true blessing. As so many of us are creative with our hands, our minds, even our hearts, may we show appreciation to be able to use our senses to be creative and improve on the work of Creation. So many are out of work, or searching for jobs, and we pray especially for many parents who cannot make ends meet to support their families and raise their children in a safe and stable environment.
We pray that they will find work and earn a decent living, and we pray today that all employers be respectful, gentle and kind with all their employees. Remind us always never to waste time on our jobs, and avoid laziness, carelessness and cheating with time, but let us be responsible and grateful for the great opportunity so many others do not even dream of having. Thank you Father, for the work of our hands.
